Movie Memories

I have a theory that movies operate on the level of dreams, where you dream yourself.

The theme word in Take a Word is MEMORIES. I was stuck with this one, then I decided to work with my movie memories. The first try was a mess because there were too many movies. I started all over again with this tiny selection of my favorite movies: Rear Window, Wings of Desire, Blade Runner, Singing in the Rain, The piano, Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Amélie, Some Like it Hot, Amarcord.

O tema em Take a Word é "memórias". Eu não conseguia decidir como começar, então resolvi trabalhar com minhas memórias cinematográficas. A primeira tentativa ficou uma bagunça porque tinha filmes demais. Comecei tudo de novo com essa pequeníssima seleção de meus filmes favoritos: Janela Indiscreta, Asas do Desejo, Blade Runner, Cantando da Chuva, O Piano, Casablanca, Bonequinha de Luxo, O Fabuloso Destino de Amélie Poulain, Quanto mais Quente Melhor, Amarcord. Through the window

Hi, folks. This is my contribution to The Three Muses challenge: WINDOWS AND/OR DOOR. I chose windows 'cause the idea of peering through a window has a hint of forbidden that seems to me, well, attractive.

Marilyn Forever

The awareness of her own beauty and the impact it caused in people has never been enough to make her feel loved, safe, adequate. Her beauty combined with a hint of fragility and melancholy have impressed me since my childhood. This is my contribution to this week challenge  at Collage Obsession: ORANGE.

Butterfly beauty

Hi! Who can resist butterflies? I can't, but this time I wanted to try something different to accomplish this week theme in Take a Word: BUTTERFLIES, of course. It ended up quite simple I guess, but butterflies don't need much to look good... :)

Hello! This time the challenge in The Three Muses is to do a steampunk makeover in someone you admire... As I'm just an ordinary  woman, I picked George again. I never have enough of him.. :)

The cat and the moon

Hi pals! This is my interpretation for this week theme in Take a Word: MOON.

THE CAT AND THE MOON

HE cat went here and there

And the moon spun round like a top,

And the nearest kin of the moon,

The creeping cat, looked up.

Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,

For, wander and wail as he would,

The pure cold light in the sky

Troubled his animal blood.

Minnaloushe runs in the grass

Lifting his delicate feet.

Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?

When two close kindred meet,

What better than call a dance?

Maybe the moon may learn,

Tired of that courtly fashion,

A new dance turn.

Minnaloushe creeps through the grass

From moonlit place to place,

The sacred moon overhead

Has taken a new phase.

Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils

Will pass from change to change,

And that from round to crescent,

From crescent to round they range?

Minnaloushe creeps through the grass

Alone, important and wise,

And lifts to the changing moon

His changing eyes.

It's always Summer

In Brazil it's Summer all year (or almost). Summer suits beach, diving, carnival, ice cream, joy. So this is my interpretation of the theme WEATHER OR NOT that The Three Muses proposes this week.

To me, music is not only medicine for broken hearts, but for lonely hearts, tired hearts, hopeless hearts. Moreover, it brings color to the joyful moments we share with those we love.

I did this piece by blending two of my own backgrounds and a sheet of music. It's my contribution to this week theme in Take a Word: MUSIC.
