Color Me Happy

Hi! The Three Muses have challenged us to take an old black and white photo and place it in or surrounded with color. My parents have recently completed 50 years of marriage and I decided to modernize the old photo album page where their wedding photo rests.

Bits and pieces by Createwing Designs, Caffeine (dA), Angie Young and Pati Araujo.

It was written in the stars

It was written in the stars
What was written in the stars shall be
It was written in the skies
That the heart and not the eyes shall see

This week the theme word in Take a Word is STARS. I was inspired by the song It Was Written in the Stars, by Harold Arlen, with lyrics by Leo Robin, in the voice of the great Ella Fitzgerald. It was written for the movie Casbah (1948). As I haven't seen it I chose another one: It happened One Night, directed by Frank Capra, starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. Love it.

The Pointy Hat Book Club

Hi, fellows! This week The Three Muses challenge is The Age of Steam and I decided to try something cozier and more intimate than machines and trains. I do like the idea of old friends gathering together for a nice cup of tea and chatting over books and life.

Background: Tumblefish Studio; texture: Kim Klassen.

Traveling back in time through art

Hi there! This week challenge in Take a Word is couples and I decided to invite my husband to a time travel through art. I had so much fun!

Works of art: Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen Painting a Portrait of His Wife (1550) by Dirck Jacobsz (1497 - 1567); Mr and Mrs Andrews (1750) by Thomas Gainsborough (1727–1788); American Gothic (1930) by Grant Wood (1891–1942) .

Icy blondes in hot hats

Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Vera Farmiga, Naomi Watts and Michele Pfeiffer in hats

Hi there! The challenge this week in Take a Word is Hats'n'Things and it made me want to use steampunk hats in my collage. When I was wondering who would have the privilege of wearing them, I don't know why but I thought in Hitchcock's icy blondes  and which actresses could replace Grace Kelly, Eve Marie Saint, Tippi Hedren, Kim Novak etc nowadays. These are my actresses of choice in their marvelous hats. Sorry for the lack of "things".

Thanks to Mr. Whiskers, Finecrafted Designs and Kim Klassen.

Le croissant de lune

Hi! Take a Word asked for MOON and I decided to try a different approach. The only problem is that now I need a snack!

I googled cookies and croissant; background by ShippD; the pair are Ryan and Tatum O'Neal in Paper Moon (1973).

Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
