Scents of the past

This week at Take a Word the theme is PURPLE. I'm also submitting this to Digitalmania.

I edited, cut and colored the photo of the girl. I made the background by mixing photos and papers. Elements by Studio Manu and Angie Young.

Ghosts butterflies on the lost island

Unpublished photo of ghosts butterflies visible only at dawn on the lost island

Take a Word theme for this week is CIRCLES. I don't know how I ended up with this, blame my muse. :)

Circles layer is mine as well as the background; there's a beach photo that is a free background. Butterflies: Dover.

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away

This week Take a Word asked for BUTTERFLIES.

Lilian and Vera

Take a Word asked for MOTHER AND CHILD and I decided to pay a tribute to these beautiful mother and child: Lilian and Vera Trotter. They died on the night of March 3, 1943, in the Bethnal Green Tube tragedy. I've read about it a few years ago and this photograph made it even more poignant.

Background: Astrid Maclean; texture: Elné; butterflies: Dover.

Louise Butterfly

“We are all butterflies. Earth is our chrysalis.”
― LeeAnn Taylor

This week the theme is BUTTERFLY in The Three Muses. I went for a dramatic butterfly impersonated by Louise  Brooks.

Background is my own, made of two of my photos and a lot of editing; floor: Tumblefish Studio; Louise Brooks photos: Dr. Macro (the one on forground was colored by me); texture: Kim Klassen.

Note: the "G" on her costume is for Griselle or Grisette, her characters in the movie Now We're in the Air (1927).

Life is full of beauty

Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces.
Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.
Ashley Smith

The theme this week in Take a Word is BEAUTY. Here is my contribution. With my big-headed girl I tried to play with the conventional concept of beauty...

Background is a mix of several papers by Studio Manu; other elements also by Studio Manu; girl body: my photo; girl head: Studio Rebecca.

Free as a butterfly

Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable,
butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.
And everyone deserves a little sunshine.
Jeffrey Glassberg

The theme this week is Take a Word is butterflies, one of my favorite themes.

Thanks for visiting!

I clipped a picture I found on the internet, applied filters, customized her dress with embroidered butterflies; furthermore I applied butterflies in her shoes, coloring them blue. Background: combination of papers by Studio Manu; butterflies: Dover; Texture: Kim Klassen.

Keep your inner peace

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit.
Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.
Saint Francis de Sales

Hello! POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS is the theme in The Three Muses. I went for keeping the inner peace as this is something really hard to me.

Thanks to Beth Rimmer, Createwings Design and Tumblefish Studios.

Color Me Happy

Hi! The Three Muses have challenged us to take an old black and white photo and place it in or surrounded with color. My parents have recently completed 50 years of marriage and I decided to modernize the old photo album page where their wedding photo rests.

Bits and pieces by Createwing Designs, Caffeine (dA), Angie Young and Pati Araujo.

Bela Rosa

“I feel as if I had opened a book and found roses of yesterday sweet and fragrant, between its leaves.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of the Island

This week we have a color challenge in Take a Word. It's PINK (and shades of pink or even mauve). I was in a nostalgic mood and did this. Thanks for passing by.

Note: I'm not taking part in the challenges as actively as I wanted because I just haven't had time (too much work and a lot of trouble!). I hope things come back on track soon...

Butterflies

Butterflies for Audrey

This week the theme in Take a Word is BUTTERFLIES. I guess we'll never have enough of them. They can add joy to almost everything.

In this collage lovely Audrey is wearing a Philip Treacy hat for Alexander Mcqueen (Spring 2008). The background is my own. There's texture by Princess of Shadows.

I did other two pieces for Digitalmania which work perfectly for this challenge. The theme is Nick Bantock.

Letter to Zenaida

As you can see it's the same background with different filters. It's a faux mail to my mother-in-law who lives in Cuba.

Sending Butterflies

The last one is a letter to DH.

Background: Kim Klassen (altered);
Sky: my photo;
Butterflies: Dover;
Flowers: Redouté.

Postcard to Cláudia

Hi! This week Take a Word asked for Mail Art and I grabbed the chance to say happy birthday to my dearest friend who lives in the most beautiful city in the world, unfortunately very far from me...

Postcard and texture by Jerry Jones (Shadowhouse Creations); Girls: illustration by Jessie Willcox Smith.

Prime color of the world

El verde es el color principal del mundo, y que a partir del cual surge su belleza.
Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.
Pedro Calderón de la Barca

This coloring thing is kinda addicting.  When Take a Word asked for Green it seemed a good idea to take an old photo of a beautiful teenager and to transform her into a Green Fairy. Then I found this photo gently shared by Jamie Miller and did that:

Flight of butterflies: Dover; Texture: Kim Klassen.

Butterfly beauty

Hi! Who can resist butterflies? I can't, but this time I wanted to try something different to accomplish this week theme in Take a Word: BUTTERFLIES, of course. It ended up quite simple I guess, but butterflies don't need much to look good... :)

Thanks to Shoofly-Stock and Katibear-Stock (DeviantArt).

Lovely insects

Hello! I've been working so much that I couldn't find time and disposition to play with my digital collages... Fortunately, I managed to play this week. The theme is INSECTS in Take a Word. As I'm not a big fan of them I decided that showing you some cute babies dressed as insects wouldn't be out of topic! :) They are so adorable that I doubled the bet!
