This week at Take a Word the theme is FLORAL. I did the doll using a photo and several papers; flowers: Angie Young; Textures and overlay: Kim Klassen.
The Three Muses asked for ZETTI and this is my take on the challenge. The quote is the "gestalt prayer", by psychotherapist Fritz Perls. I'm always trying to meet everyone's expectations, mother, children, husband, boss, friends. Of course it doesn't work out and I end up frustrated, so I took this prayer as a mantra... I zettified my face, then built the doll with bits and pieces by Rebecca Mcmeen.
Hi! The Three Muses asked for FASHION and it has occurred to me that this was a good opportunity to portrait this trend among teens and also young women called kawaii (the word also applies to everything cute in Japanese culture). It is also known as Lolita fashion. According to Wikipedia, Lolita fashion is based on Victorian fashion and the Rococo period. Girls who dress in Lolita fashion are not going for the "sexy" look, but instead try to look cute, innocent, and beautiful. This look is achieved with lace, ribbons, bows, ruffles, bloomers, aprons, and ruffled petticoats. Parasols, chunky Mary Jane heels, and Bo Peep collars are also very popular. There is also the Sweet Lolita that includes even more embellishments and is often in pastels and other light colors.

I love the gothic aesthetic, I find it beautiful and romantic. However, I've been there several times. So, I decided to stick with the Gothic architecture only. Then I added some luxury to the scenery by including one of the fantastic Marina Bychkova's dolls a la Marie Antoinette. Hope you like it. Background (altered): Historyfish (photochrom dated between 1890 and 1900 and available from the Library of Congress of La Sainte-Chapelle, located near the Palais de la Cité, on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris). Amazing Doll (altered): Marina Bychkova. Wings: brush by Obsidian Dawn.
Hi there! In Take a Word the theme word for this week is TATTERED. I was not in the vintage mood, so I went for gothic with some tattered clothes, wings and textures. The fairy is an assemblage of several parts I googled. The spooky doll is available here. Thanks for passing by and for your kind comments.
Doll hand made by Jodi Cain; Background by Digital Blasphemy; textures by Cloaks and Tigers (deviantArt); wings by Tracie76Stock (dA).
Hi! This time the challange in Three Muses is incorporate UNDERWEAR somewhere in my collage. I've though in paper dolls, after all they come in underwear to be dressed with those lovely outfits. It has seemed to me that would be interesting to pick only vintage small girls paper dolls and compare how they've changed over the time. Unfortunately I coudn't find out the names and year of some of them, so I made them up.
Poor Princess Isobel had everything but freedom...
